Minute Musings...Ponder Your Path

For the most part we go through our days not really considering "where" our paths are
taking us!  We have a routine and we tend to stick to the familiar...well most of us!  I'm
a creature of habit, I like to know what I'm doing tomorrow, next week, next year.  I don't
function well when there is no schedule...summer time for me has always been hard.  But
for the more adventurist among us, it's the not knowing, this spontaneous life style that
energizes them.  However, no matter what our preferences are, we are admonished in
Proverbs 4:26 to, "Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established."

God has a path chosen for His children.  This is not some spur of the moment path we
chose lightly, this is the way of the Cross.  It is the path of righteousness.  This is a path
that will be ridiculed by the world.  It is a path that is filled with pitfalls and snares by
Satan, to trip us up and to ruin our testimony.  It is a path that will conform us to the
image of our Heavenly Father.  There is one other very important fact about our path
that we find in verse 18 of Proverbs chapter 4.  "But the path of the just is as a shining
light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day."  Our pilgrim pathway through
this wicked world is to be a light to the lost.

May I encourage you to stop today for a moment and consider what ways are being
established by the path your feet are taking.  What we do, think and say are all working
to establish our way.  Is your way building up or breaking down the testimony of Christ
in your life?  I'm afraid that many of us are walking around with lights that are blackened
by sin in our lives.  Our once shining lights are dull and are serving no purpose for the
Lord.  People cannot tell by our actions and speech that we belong to the King of Kings
and Lord of Lords.  It tells us in verse 19 that "The way of the wicked is as darkness:
they know not at what they stumble."

Those that are in the way of the wicked are blinded to the truth by the darkness in
which they dwell.  Sin has become so normal to them, that they cannot see that the
path they are on is leading to death and destruction.  As Christians, we cannot lose
our salvation, but we can lose our way.  We can become once again entangled and
enticed by this old world and the sinful pleasures that it offers, and before we know
it, we have veered from the path of the just, and we are walking in the way of the wicked.

Those of you who have had the blessing of reading Pilgrims Progress will understand
exactly what I'm talking about.  Little Christian was on his way to the Celestial City,
but different times during his long journey he got off the right pathway and ended up
in serious peril.  By listening to the lies of the devil, being lured by the pleasures of
sin, he lost his way and became snared by the world and all its terrible dangers. When
he saw the error of his ways, he repented and found his way back to the Kings
Highway again.

Why would one chose to stumble along in the darkness, when all that is needed is to
clean their light and get back on the pathway of the just.  Proverbs 4:20 - 22  "My
son, attend to my words;  incline thine ear unto my sayings, let them not depart
from thine eyes;  keep them in the midst of thine heart.  For they are life unto
those that find them, and health to all their flesh."  Giving God first place in our
hearts will direct us back to the path of the just, and our way will be established for
Him.  We will have a testimony of light that will shine brightly till we reach our
Heavenly home.

God has ordained our path and He travels right beside us on the way!  What a blessed
promise we have in the Word of God that He will never leave us or forsake us!  He
is our guide and our strength for this journey through the wilderness!  We need not
fear the unknown way, for He knows the way home.

Stop today and ponder the path of your feet, let your way be established and become
the shining light that will bring the blessing of God upon your life as you travel on
the Kings Highway to Glory.

God Will Make A Way

God will make a way,
Where there seems to be no way;
He works in ways we cannot see,
He will make a way for me.
He will be my guide,
Hold me closely to His side;
With love and strength for each new day,
He will make a way,
He will make a way.

By a roadway in the wilderness He'll lead me,
Rivers in the desert will I see.
Heaven and earth will fade,
But His Word will still remain,
And He will do something new today.
