Do you ever tire of pretending to be happy? You get up in the morning and paste your
smile in place. Your family, friends, co-workers, neighbours never know that behind
the smile is a heart that is breaking into pieces, and you just want to sit and cry.
I've been in this situation before, I know how hard it is not to let that smile crack, to
always put all your effort into keeping up this pretense. Perhaps today, your smile is
starting to waver. Your pillow is soaked at night as you sob your heartache and despair
into it. Maybe your heart is broken over a beloved child who is not walking with the
Lord, and you agonize over their wayward life, and the consequences that their choices
are going to leave them with. Or perhaps you have lost a loved one, that special person,
and you just don't know how you can face each day with this empty spot in your life.
It could be that you are drowning in the uncertainty of financial loss, and the bills
keep accumulating at an alarming rate, and you fear losing everything that you've
worked so hard for. Maybe you're grappling with the horror of a cancer diagnoses,
other severe health problem. There are many things that can break your heart and
leave you wondering what the point is in trying to go on...I've been here, I know....but
more than that, I've found the answer.
Hebrews 4:15 & 16 "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched
with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like we are,
yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we
may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."
Our sweet Lord and Savior knows what we are going through. We might have the
world fooled by our smile, but not Jesus. He knows, He cares and He offers us what
we need most...mercy and grace. He doesn't offer to take away our problems, He
gives us the means to go through the problems. When we give our burdens and
heartaches over to the Lord Jesus, He gives back to us peace in the midst of the
trials. This peace in the midst of the storm will in turn become a testimony of
the sustaining hand of God upon our lives. It will be a sign to others going through
heartache, that God is all they need to see them through.
Will your heart still be breaking? Will you still have emptiness in your life? Will
your bills still be there? Will the hospital and doctors still be there? Yes...to all
of them. BUT you will have God's peace...what an amazing comfort He has
promised!
I want to share with you with a few verses that have become so precious to me
over the years. I have faced many challenges and heartbreaks, and I can attest
to you today that my God has always been faithful.
Deuteronomy 31:6 "Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid
of them: for the LORD thy God, He it is that doth go with thee; He will not
fail thee, nor forsake thee."
Psalms 34:18 "The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart: and
saveth such as be of a contrite spirit."
Psalms 55:22 "Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He shall sustain thee:
He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."
Psalms 73:26 "My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my
heart, and my portion for ever."
God is waiting for you to hand over your broken heart. Trust Him with it today.
Matthew 11:28 "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and
I will give you rest."
